A new version (Version 2.0) of the CryoClim global snow cover extent (SCE) product has been developed. A number of initial weaknesses with the algorithms and product has been mitigated. Furthermore, uncertainty information has been added. The advanced algorithms are now the basis for a long-term time series of SCE maps currently covering the period 1982-2015 (34 years). The time series is regularly updated as new optical and PMR data of fundamental climate record (FCDR) quality become available. The next update will come in 2022.
